Prevention Service - Family support services
What we do
The Prevention Service aim to support and work with 8 to 17-year-olds who are considered to be at risk of offending or anti-social behaviour.
Prevention Case meetings are made up of a number of representatives of different agencies (e.g. police, schools, health and social services) with the emphasis in ensuring that children and their families, at the earliest possible opportunity, can access mainstream public services.
Young people will have an allocated practitioner who will assess their needs and make an individual plan with the young person, their family and other practitioners involved in providing support. As well as recognising and basing the intervention on the strengths that can be built upon to support better decisions, actions on the plan will also address behaviours impacting others.
Support is also available for parents who may be struggling to manage their child's negative behaviour.
Who do we support
Young people aged 8 - 17 years who may be at risk of getting involved in criminal or anti-social behaviour.
Can anyone use this service?
A referral is required. This can be a self-referral or it can be made by other agencies working with the young person and the family. Consent is required from the young person and parent/carer.
