The Respite Association - Family support services

What we do

We fund suitably qualified carers to take over so that the usual carer can take a well earned break.

Most of our grants are for a few hundred pounds but we are happy to share funding with other sources.

Please note that we do not fund the carers break, or anything associated with it, just the caring support.

We do fund week long seaside breaks, see our "carer breaks" page for the separate application form for this.

Who do we support

We provide short term assistance in the funding of appropriately qualified respite care for disabled, sick, elderly or terminally ill persons in order that their regular carer can be allowed to take a much needed break.

In addition we offer free respite breaks for carers in our caravan in North Wales and our cottage in Cornwall.

Many of the people who are at home caring for loved ones are forced to live on very limited incomes. It is these people that we are working to help.

Is there a charge to use this service?

Can anyone use this service?

Most of our referrals come from caring organisations, such as Crossroads, SSAFA or Age Concern, or directly from Social Services on behalf of individuals. In rare cases we will consider applications from individuals but these must be supported by a charity, Social Services or a GP.
