What we do

Flying Start is the Welsh Government targeted Early Years programme for families with children under 4 years of age in some of the most deprived areas of Wales. It is one of the Welsh Government’s top priorities over the next 3 years.

The core of the programme is drawn from a range of options that have been shown to have positive outcomes for children and their families. These include:
• Free quality, part-time Childcare for 2-3 year olds.
• An enhanced Health Visiting service.
• Access to Parenting Programmes.
• Early Language Development.

Every child has the right to flourish and develop to their full potential. The Flying Start programme is delivered in specific areas within NPT with the aim of supporting families to give children a better start in life.

Can anyone use this service?

Most of our services require a referral from your Flying Start Health Visitor or Social Worker.

Language: English medium setting with some bilingual elements

• Can provide specialist support for families of children with disabilities / additional needs Yes Please contact to discuss your child(s) needs further. Most of our playgroups are able to accommodate children with disabilities. They have staff trained in sign language, administering epipens, etc. They offer additional support on a one-to-one basis as needed. Our Speech and Language Therapists, Educational Psychologists, Parenting Advisors, and medical staff all have their own expertise for helping children with disabilities.
