What we do
Hemiplegia services are provided by Contact, the charity for families with disabled children.
On the website you'll find advice and support for families with children with hemiplegia, continuing the work of the UK charity HemiHelp. Hemiplegia (sometimes called hemiparesis) is a condition, caused by a brain injury, that results in a varying degree of weakness, stiffness (spasticity) and lack of control in one side of the body. The definition comes from the Greek 'hemi' = half. Hemiplegia is caused by injury to parts of the brain that control movements of the limbs, body, face, etc.
If your child has been diagnosed with hemiplegia, you will want to support them but may be unsure how to go about it. We have a wealth of advice and support information on our website.
