Challenge Wales - Children and young people's activities


What we do

Challenge Wales provides outdoor learning opportunities at sea for young people aged 12 - 25 years. We do this through sailing 'Challenge Wales'. Our activities improve teamwork and communication skills, leadership skills, reduces isolation, improves mental health and makes people aware of environmental and sustainability issues. Our activities are accredited through Agored Cymru.

Who do we support

Day voyages are suitable for those aged 14 - 25 years.
Residential voyages are suitable for those aged 16 - 25 years
Sea and Tell Shoreside activities are suitable for those aged 11 - 25 years
Volunteering opportunities are suitable for those aged 18+

Is there a charge to use this service?

Depends - Challenge Wales can provide bursary funding to subsidise young people aged 25 and under accessing the services in most cases. Details of costs are on our website; www.challengewales.org
To be eligible for bursary funding you must be financially or socially disadvantaged or interested in a maritime career.
Bursary funding is available for both groups and individuals

  • Can support children with disabilities / additional needs? Yes Please contact to discuss your child(s) needs further. We support young people who may have learning difficulties, mental health issues. We discuss this when you enquire about booking as not all our voyages are suitable for everyone due to the nature of the activity.

The Challenge Wales office is open from 10am - 2pm Monday to Friday. However, due to the nature of our activities we may be open longer than these hours and you are encouraged to phone or email.
