What we do
VADT is part of the 'Newlands' team based in Barry.
Newlands is a NHS (CAU) and Local Authority Service (VADT) which supports people with substance misuse related difficulties across the Vale of Glamorgan.
VADT is the Local Authority Service; it includes a Specialist Substance Misuse Consultant Lead Social Worker, Social Care Officer and a support worker.
Working to the 'Social Services and Wellbeing Act 2014' this service aims to promote independence and wellbeing through information, advice and assistance whilst working to people's own unique strengths and abilities.
We are not an abstinence service but will work with people in establishing plans to meet their own personal outcomes and circumstances.
Examples of support are; one to one harm reduction work, access to specialist domiciliary services, assessment for residential rehab' treatment, access to a specialist support worker.
Full comprehensive assessments, outreach and office appointments offered.
Who do we support
Adults who are 18 years or over and live in the Vale of Glamorgan and those who look after adults who are 18 and over (carers).
Is there a charge to use this service?
Depends - You may be asked to pay toward the cost of any Care and Support Plan that you receive dependent upon a Financial Assessment. You will be informed of all charges throughout the process
Can anyone use this service?
Referrals can be made through CAVDAS by individuals, family and friends, as well as other professionals by contacting CAVDAS

Monday - Friday 9am-5pm. Not open on public holidays.
Closed for lunch between 1-1.30pm.
