Strengthening Families Team - Family support services


What we do

The Strengthening Families Team are Social and Family Therapeutic Workers, supporting families who meet the threshold for care and support. They provide complex interventions:
IFSS
6 week intensive programme aimed at families affected by substance misuse and mental health difficulties.
Family Mediation
Social workers will work with families negotiating and support families to work with children
Play therapy
Aimed at families who are struggling to connect with their children
Changes programme
Intensive work with families where there are behavioural issues with Parents
Talking to Mum
Intervention to encourage parents and children to talk about their experiences of domestic abuse
Life Story work
Provided to those children in care to make sense of their life journeys
Foster Care Therapeutic Support - provided as part of, or as an intervention to avoid the necessity for, a care and support plan.
Joint consultations with CAMHS

Who do we support

Children in need and those on the Child Protection Register.

Can anyone use this service?

Referrals for the team come directly from Childrens’ Services Social workers. New referrals must be screened by the Duty and Assessment Team.
