What we do

WCD stands for Wrexham, Conwy and Denbighshire. WCD is pronounced ‘wicked’. WCD Young Carers is a part of the Charity ‘Credu connecting young and adult carers’.

At WCD Young Carers, we support young people 18 years and under that have a caring role for a family member and we listen to understand what life is like for them growing up with additional responsibilities. Whilst some are proud of what they learn being a young carer, a lot of them tell us that they need a ‘break’ so we offer this through youth groups, trips out and residentials. We work closely with the statutory and third sector organisations to offer opportunities and improved life chances for Young Carers and Young Adult Carers throughout the region.

At WCD, everyone from management to our team of Outreach Workers, sessional staff and volunteers believe that every young carer has strengths and this is valued.

Who do we support

We work with a number of local and national voluntary organisations to keep in touch and share information about the services that are available, and we are affiliated to the Carers’ Trust, a charity that supports a network of other local Carers Support Centres.
