Families First Neath Port Talbot - Family support services


What we do

Families First is a programme funded by Welsh Government that support families with children and young people aged 0-25 years.

In Neath Port Talbot, the services are split over three main themes:

Support for parents
Support for young people
Support for families with a disability

The types of support we can provide includes:

Help with emotional wellbeing or after a bereavement
Support for families who have experienced domestic abuse
Parenting support and support with home routines
Help for young people
Support for families where relationships between family members are challenging
Support for children and young people with a disability or additional learning need (ALN), and also support for their family.

Where families have a number of problems or need help from a number of services, then Team Around the Family can help to co-ordinate this.

Who do we support

Families with children aged 0-25 years in Neath Port Talbot.

The services are intended to help families at the earliest opportunity to stop problems get bigger, however, families who need more help are also welcome to use the services.

Families receiving support from Social Services should speak to their social worker about help they feel they need.

Is there a charge to use this service?

No

Can anyone use this service?

A referral will be needed for all services and families can refer themselves or be referred by someone who knows the family, like a teacher or Health Visitor. Anyone making a referral for a family must talk to the family about it so that they know what information is being given and the type of support that is being requested. Referrals for all services can be made through the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) and are available to families who do not need support from Social Services.
